Small Group Ministry

At MVPC we believe that small groups are an essential ingredient to our growth as followers of Christ. Connecting with others is vital to developing a relationship with God. We can’t do it alone.

When Jesus wanted to train people to change the world, he did it through a small group – the 12 disciples. In the small group context the disciples grew in their understanding and were prepared to carry on the Lord’s ministry. Small groups are still an important tool for knowing God and for preparing to serve God in the world.

What is a small group?

A small group is an intentional gathering of 4-12 people who meet at least twice a month to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ through study, sharing and prayer. Small groups connect people and provide support, encouragement, and accountability that all of us need to deepen our faith. Each group will have a leader to provide direction and support.

Typically, a small group meets weekly or every other week in the home of a group member for approximately an hour and a half. That time is spent studying the Scriptures with the use of a guide, sharing personal joys and concerns, and praying for one another. Some groups share a simple meal before the meeting.  Each group will begin its small group experience by discovering more about what it means to be connected to others in a small group.

Contact the church office to indicate your interest and group preferences.  You will be placed into the group that most closely resembles your needs.
